Hello World & 2011...and Hello to "Blogging"

Ahh and egads all at once! I have done it. Or it's been done to me?

After a year or two of pontificating on FaceBook and tweeting on Twitter I have reduced my aspiration of writing and journaling to blogging at the intended expense (or is it redemption) of my Facebook time. New resolution, ya know? Isn't that what we do at one year's close and another year's beginning? I sense excitement as I perceive this might be a definitive move, (should I say?), perhaps even the mind of God for my life's direction today?

Maybe.... Old proverb... "wait and see..." Certainly I must follow the principle of faith: "let all that we do be done in faith" for "without faith it is impossible to please Him."

And what of...
Lamp to feet as my link? Seeing Light in His Light as my blog title?

Why so named? Seems right. I believe we will not see properly without proper perspective. God as Author of life, God who "dwells in unapproachable light", God the giver of every good gift, the Sustainer of every molecule of His creation has that eternal, start to finish view of life. If I desire to understand my Creator and His world, and thus my life, I need to practice His Word that states we "see light in His light." I believe it impossible to know where we travel to should we fail to orient self to a fixed point of reference. Most of the GPS devices auto-default to "Current Location" as a fixed reference point. So we too, as we travel life's maze and road toward that fixed eternal destiny, we too need bearing and points of reference. And we need an Instruction Manual that helps redeem the journey.

Psalm 36:9
"For with Thee is a fountain of life; in Thy light we see light."

Gotta love the simple, profound declaration of His Truth. It is self-authenticating. Self-validating. Life transforming. His Word is a Sword that cuts to the core and exposes us in our need, Christ in His sufficiency, God's glory and presence as our goal. Our role in this is to "receive the Word implanted" by which we "save our souls."

I found Amy Carmichael's wisdom and insight of a candle-lighted path example, in one of her works, to be very profound. She spoke of an event that made the Psalm of His "Word is a lamp to our feet" very real on the side of a treacherous mountain one moonless night in India as she traveled by candle light. She stated that the way was so treacherous that she literally at times crawled on hands and knees, and moved one candle-lit step at a time on a narrow, unfamiliar, unmarked path. And this scripture became real to her: "Thy Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." Psalm 119:105

So is our life whether we realize it or not. We ought be traveling a single solitary step at a time as we move in a faith-motivated, Word-governed obedience to the living Creator who holds open either a wide or narrow gate as we trek toward Judgment.

It is in His light we see light and thus gain and attain wisdom and understanding. It is His Word that is a lamp to our feet to show weary pilgrims the path of righteousness that "shines brighter like the sun at the dawning of a new day."

Whitney's suggestion of "journaling" as one of the basic disciplines of the Christian life catches my eye. In fact my facebook wall posts and comments had/have become an open journal of spiritual thoughts of a sort. Going back to the beginning I noted that it even began as such. FB "journal wall posts" being written to friends in particular can become a source of distraction in respect to a significant post NEVER catching the eye of any. I approach blogging as a matter indifferent and have NO EXPECTATIONS of comment for its target audience is nondescript and random. Thus, I hope to write my heart and share my intimate moments with the living Christ. In so doing I will share with you His glory of the revelation and application of truth to my personal experience in daily life. Ultimately... my goal is for you "to taste and see that the Lord is good." I want you to be lost in the ocean of infinite love that He showers upon all those who "do homage to the Son" and upon those who "call upon the Lord while He is near."

FB is also very time intensive and I hope with full computer keyboard to reduce my net time on electronic media input. My goal is to maximize my view of Christ in the Word, prayer for the kingdom, exercise myself to an overflow ministry of what God is doing in my life, and leave a written legacy for my boys and whomever. (Time factor has been a dismal failure on this first attempt and yes I know it is fragmented in structure. This first post is unique. I am sure I will comment to correct errors of intent and purpose.)

So no expectations are held on my part, as my intent is to have a forum to share thoughts of heaven and eternity, of God and His glory, and what this personal God is doing in my life day by day. It will be intimate and experiential in nature. I am not given to the dry academic approach to Scripture. I want to know my God in secret that I might proclaim Him upon the housetops.

But comment as you will within the grounds of that which is good and holy and decent. Fortunately, for me, I get to make my rules up as I blog on my blog. That is a rare thing. So for those who are confused as to what is good and holy and decent I reserve the delete function and will use it as necessary. I believe we can pursue Truth without resorting to unnecessary expressions of natural depravity.

In the meantime I desire and need to know more of His light and favor as our world is consumed in the pursuit of darkness.
